Belgian labelmaker wraps up UV printing on film with GEW upgrade

Staff -- Converting Magazine, 1/1/2005

Belgium label printer Drukkerij Dejonghe can now produce unsupported-film labels and sleeves on its Gallus EM280 press, thanks to a new VCP film UV upgrade solution from UK manufacturer GEW. The press was originally supplied two years ago with a stan-dard VCP UV system from GEW. This year, the need to print and convert heat-sensitive films arose and Drukkerij Dejonghe needed a solution that would let the converter meet customer demands. The new upgrade keeps the original VCP UV-curing module and adds components comprised of a water-cooled cylinder with two turn rollers. This simply requires some water hose and a modest refrigeration unit. All original components remain unchanged and are kept in place providing a low-cost upgrade.
