UK-based CVC Capital Partners acquires the printing inks and printing plates operations of BASF Corp. and ANI Printing Inks on Sept. 30. The sale covers all BASF printing system facilities and activities, including the BASF plant in Huntington, WV. The sale by BASF should enable the printing system business to emerge as a leading international supplier, CVC says. The first step will be the merger with ANI Printing Inks under the CVC umbrella. Both ANI's product portfolio and regional coverage are very complementary to BASF's printing inks operations. The merged businesses will be headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany.
Middleboro, MA-based viscosity measurement and control system provider Brookfield Engineering Laboratories opens a new sales and support office in the Chicago area, which will primarily serve IL, IN, WI and neighboring states. The new office will be managed by David Larson, president of Johnson Instrument Sales, Inc., a long-time representative of the Brookfield product line for over 42 years.
Web-guide system provider Accu-Web, Inc., Madison, WI, signs a distribution agreement with Beijing Webcon Tech & Trading Co. Ltd. (BWT) in China. The deal adds an important link in AccuWeb's growing international supply chain for its proprietary web-guide systems. Beijing Webcon Tech operates six offices and tech support centers throughout China.
Skofia Loka, Slovenia, is the latest production facility for Bosch Rexroth AG'sline of linear, torque and modular motors for the printing-press, converting and packaging-machinery markets. The new $6 million site will employ about 200 workers. With this facility, Bosch Rexroth continues to expand its production capacity in Central and Eastern Europe, the company says.
The recent Labelexpo Americas 2004 show was good to web-inspection equipment supplier BST Pro Mark, Elmhurst, IL. The supplier reportedly wrote orders for 35 web-inspection systems from customers in six countries: the US, Mexico, Chile, Columbia, Canada and The Phillippines. All orders were for the company's newest web-inspection systems, the Powerscope™ 3000 and the Super HandyScan® 3000.
Web-handling equipment supplier Goldenrod Corp. moves into its new 30,000-sq-ft facility in Beacon Falls, CT. The upgrade significantly expands the company's manufacturing and design capabilities with more personnel, CNC equipment, larger lathes and improved process control.
Water-based and UV-flexo inkmaker Color Resolutions Intl. relocates to its new 70,000-sq-ft headquarters in Fairfield, OH. The site features laboratories for research & development, as well as manufacturing and warehousing.
