Coating-machinery manufacturer Geometric opens its new corporate headquarters in Mount Pocono, PA. Manufacturing operations will move from East Brunswick, NJ, to the Mount Pocono facility, which is equipped with a complete pilot-coating line for research and development.

Stamford, CT-based MeadWestvaco Corp. purchases the All Purpose Litho (APL) product line, brand and formulas of SMART Papers LLC, Hamilton, OH, March 1. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. SMART Papers will continue manufacturing APL through April 2004 and converting and distribution of APL through July 2004 to support its existing customers and to assist the transition to MeadWestvaco.

Bryan, OH-based flexo-print product vendor Anderson & Vreeland, Inc., has been appointed a distributor of Latran Technologies' Prediction® digital-halftone proofing systems. Prediction systems deliver high-resolution, realistic proofs that match actual press results with superior accuracy. The systems use a patented Laser Ablation Transfer (LAT) technology to transfer pigmented printing inks directly to flexo substrates with real halftone-dot structure.
