High Point, NC-based Southern Film Extruders, Inc., will install a state-of-the-art, blown-film co-extrusion system from Reifenhauser, Inc. (Ipswich, MA) at its new facility in High Point currently under construction. The new Reifenhauser film line with Reicotherm® automatic gauge control, Reicofly® turning bars and UFA winding technology will begin production in July. The new 50,000-sq-ft plant will house additional Reifenhauser lines later this year. SFE's new plant will be dedicated to proprietary co-extruded structures for lamination-quality film production.

Renton, WA-based packaging converter Trojan Litho installs a new high-speed SHM 1450 dual-rotary sheeter from Körber Paperlink North America (Windsor, CT) to improve quality and reduce waste for its paperboard-packaging operations. The 57-in. SHM 1450 sheeter was manufactured by Pemco, Inc. (Sheboygan, WI), and is designed to provide high-quality, efficient sheeting of a wide range of materials including paper, board, and plastics. Trojan Litho produces customized branded materials for diverse applications from food, toys and sporting equipment to pharmaceuticals, cell phones and computer software.

Wrightstown, WI-based converter Coating Excellence Intl. selects Microsoft® Axapta for Converting from Concord Business Solutions (Atlanta) to manage its operations and improve upon acclaimed customer service. CEI is a widely recognized start-up success story, specializing in extrusion coating, printing and laminating since 1997. CEI produces ream wrap, food packaging, flexible packaging, industrial and release substrates for several different markets.

Mail-Well University, the training and educational arm of Denver-based envelope and commercial printer Mail-Well, purchases multiple units of the FlexSys™ Press Simulator through the Flexographic Technical Assn., Ronkonkoma, NY. The package includes seven Lite versions and one Standard version. As a result, Mail-Well ranks among the single-largest North American users of the virtual training technology, and it is enrolled in the FlexSys™ Simulator Users' Group.
