Graphic Packaging, Riverwood Intl. merge

The creation of Graphic Packaging Corp. through the merger of Graphic Packaging Intl. Corp. and Riverwood Holding Inc. was completed August 8.
The union results in one of the largest converters of paperboard-based packaging materials in the US, with an approximate value of $3.2 billion. Headquartered in Marietta, GA, Graphic Packaging is a leader in the three largest segments of the US folding-carton business—beverage, frozen and non-frozen.
"The combined company is built on common operating philosophies, including a commitment to innovation, cost reduction, quality and customer service," says Steve Humphrey, president/ CEO of Graphic Packaging Corp. "Graphic Packaging will have the scale, technologies and product portfolio to enhance relationships with food and consumer products companies worldwide."
The Board of Directors of Graphic Packaging will consist of nine members: Jeffrey Coors, former chairman/CEO of Graphic Packaging Intl., who will serve as executive chairman, Humphrey, Kevin J. Conway, G. Andrea Botta, John D. Beckett, Harold R. Logan, Jr., John R. Miller, Martin D. Walker and a ninth director to be named.
