Euro converters win digital-print awards
Staff -- Converting Magazine, 7/1/2003
Two European converters topped their competitors to win seventh-annual Diamond Awards for digital printing from Itasca, IL-based digital-press provider Xeikon America.
Overall, the results showed a range of highly successful digital color-printing business cases. The top winner in the Labels & Packaging Category (left) was C&B Creation (Zwolle, The Netherlands) with labels for cheese wheels for the dairy products company Campina, printed on a MAN Roland DICO Press 500. The converter developed an application to print light silk-paper labels, which are glued onto the cheese wheels.
The second Labels & Packaging prize (above) was awarded to Germark S.A. (Lornella, Spain) for the production of transparent suntan-oil labels for Deliplus. Short runs for 50 different layouts for the new collection of suntan oils used the fifth-color station for white toner. Almost 100 digital-print applications produced with Xeikon print engines were judged by an international jury.
