Trim-waste & scrap-removal systemsSurface treaters

Fast trim removal system

The new TrimPAC™ system for trim waste and scrap removal cuts and evacuates edge trim from slitters and die cutters, which provides clog-free conveying at the extreme line speeds converters, printers, and film and sheet processors demand. System conveys film, foil, laminate, paper and other waste material up to 300 ft at 5,500 fpm or faster air velocity. TrimPAC is pre-engineered with an inline cutter, material handling fan, piping, air separator, two inlet pickups and other elements for reliable, high performance operation.

Trim/pneumatic conveying unit

This co. can provide an off-the-shelf standard trim/pneumatic conveying system for a variety of converting applications with machine speeds up to 2,000 fpm. Custom engineered systems are available for larger converting projects as well. A design with seven different systems, including a shredder, baler and dust filter are also an option. These systems contain 'under the roof' air/material separators that eliminate the downdraft problems associated with horizontal box-type separators.

Edge trimmer to remove scrap

Traversing edge trim take-up winders are used to remove edge trim scrap from the slitting process. This co.'s edge trim spool winders are used to reduce the bulk created by conventional vacuum trim removal systems. Slitting edge trim is traverse wound into neat, manageable spools to be either discarded or salvaged. These are cantilevered, freestanding material on cores, flanged spools or coreless winding. These models offer a wide range of options from simple units that follow the speed reference of the main machine up to 750 fpm to more sophisticated systems with closed loop tension control operating to 2,500 fpm.

Trim remover during production

This co. introduces its FOX TrimAway® and the FOX Runner® systems engineered for trim removal during production or converting of most web materials including, paper, film, foil, board, nonwovens and textiles. It is effective with trim ranging from 1/16 in. to 6 in. widths and can operate at speeds up to 4,000 fpm. The venturi-based FOX TrimAway system includes Gast® Regenerative Blower and a unique, adjustable venturi. It transports waste to any waste collection point and can be integrated with recycling equipment. The versatile FOX Runner is a portable version of the FOX TrimAway that can be quickly engaged and disengaged and easily rolled, on built-in wheels, from one production line to another, as needed.

Live edge trimmer

This new system, which includes the co.'s production-proven Continuous Agglomerator, is said to allow for efficient automatic densification of edge trim that can be easily gravimetrically weighed and controlled. During processing, live edge trim is blown to the new receiver, which takes in both the transport air and trim and separates it. The trim is then dropped into the densifier drum, which cuts, warms and densifies the material. The discharge extruder constantly removes the material from the drum and produces agglomerate at the end of the screw and barrel. The system automatically speeds up, slows down or stops in response to the volume of trim.

Trim & scrap handling

The PAC series balers are designed for use in conjunction with air handling, conveying and shredding systems to automatically bale trim and scrap material. A wear-resistant floor liner system is guaranteed to last up to five years or 10,000 hours of operation. The baler's material tension chamber self-adjusts to heavily coated materials to maximize bale density.

Corona treater station

The new SYSTEM CR10-15 is a double-sided covered roll corona station to treat the two outside surfaces of the lay-flat extruded film and is available in two sizes. Supplied with either 4 or 6 in. diameter lightweight aluminum base rolls, it provides an economic solution for all blown film lines, reports manufacturer. The open design of framework with its unique E-Z thread-up ensures no loss of film tension when electrodes are in open mode, and the pneumatically retractable electrodes provide for operator access during web thread-up.

Treater generator system

IntelliPower is a new corona generator that offers Internet troubleshooting capabilities. This innovative technology provides Touch Screen controls, PLC ladder-logic programming, SVGA screen, power factor correction, plus the entire instruction manual for instant onscreen viewing and troubleshooting guide. This system is protected by the manufacturer's three-year limited warranty.

Easy roll-removal system

This co. now features a patented removable modular interchangeable electrode magazine and interchangeable treater rolls. The Universal system was designed to swap out electrode and rolls in a matter of seconds. The roll-removal system has been enhanced for even easier operation, says co. The roll slides in and is held in place by a plate that slides directly into the side of the treater, locking in the roll itself, making cleaning effortless and downtime minimal.

Corona-treating station

A new corona-treating system for the flex-pack industry is said to increase surface energy of webs made from paper, plastic, metallized film and foil. The design enables the equipment to be easily installed on new or existing extrusion, printing, coating and laminating lines, says co. Treating stations are available as standard units or can be custom built to suit widths from 20 to 120 in., single or double-sided treatment.

Low friction roll for treaters

The ELF is a new low-friction roll available for new treating stations and in many cases can be retrofitted onto existing stations in the field. The ELF's light-weight design significantly reduces momentum and inertia. The roll turns more freely than conventional rolls, which adds to production stability, especially during starts and stop. The ELF's low friction capabilities and the co.'s proprietary roll coatings are an ideal combination for surface treating lightweight film.
