Making Change

Staff -- Converting Magazine, 9/1/2002

MeadWestvaco Corp., Stamford, CT, says it will close its Consumer & Office Products Group envelope plant in Worcester, MA by late September. Production will be transferred to other MeadWestvaco facilities.

Richmond, VA-based Alcoa Flexible Packaging says July 30 that it will close its package-printing plant in Boyertown, PA, by October. The facility, which converts printed film laminations for the snack-food and confectionery markets, will operate until customers' needs can be supplied elsewhere, Alcoa says. More than 100 workers will lose their jobs.
