Carbon-fiber air shafts provide strength
Nim-Cor, Inc., 888/464-6267, fax: 603/883-6980, www.nimcor.com
Co. offers a carbon-fiber air shaft manufactured from light-weight composite materials. These air shafts are made from ultra high-modulus fibers that are said to be an alternative to aluminum and steel. Because they are lightweight, the shafts are easier to handle and lift. They are corrosion resistant to almost every chemical, reducing maintenance costs and extending the overall life of the shaft.

Air shaft for finished rolls
Tidland Corp., 800/426-1000, fax: 360/834-5865, www.tidland.com
The Model D3 differential air shaft is available for 3 and 6 in. cores. The D3 can run a variety of different roll widths with adjustable pressure all along its length at the same time, meaning fewer runs through the slitter for the master roll. This design uses tension elements to prevent lateral roll movement, eliminating the need for spacers or core stops that take time to set and lock manually.
