Thermal-transfer ribbon converter Theodorou Automation SAICT, based in Gerakas, Greece, recently installed a new Quadro 200 TTR slitter/rewinder from FAES AG, Wollerau, Switzerland. The delivered system, equipped with the latest features, converts ribbons on 1- and 1/2-in. cores. With this purchase, Theodorou is responding to increasing demand for its TTR products, the company says. The Quadro 200 represents the next progression for Theodorou's business, by improving its quality of service and flexibility.

Synthetic-paper converter Yupo Corp. completes installation May 29 of a new John Dusenbery (Randolph, NJ) Model 280 slitter/rewinder at its Chesapeake, VA manufacturing plant. The system is expected to help cut delivery time, provide on-demand sample fulfillment and ensure high quality of the company's YUPO® materials. The slitter/rewinder accommodates roll diameters for narrow and wide web printers. The high-speed, duplex center-winder is said to offer better process control and handling of Yupo's super-smooth synthetic papers for IML and direct-thermal applications.

Flex-pack converter Catty Corp., Huntley, IL, expands into a 30,000-sq-ft second plant to house its newly-retrofitted Bobst Champlain (Roseland, NJ) 8-color gravure press and new Deacro Industries (Mississauga, ON) 62-in. slitter/rewinder. The 175-ft-long press features a 54-in. web width, enabling large-volume runs in shorter periods of time. Extended drying capabilities allow run speeds up to 1,000 fpm. The press also has upgraded drives, controls and web-inspection systems as well as the ability to laminate and emboss in-line.
