Cincinnati-based label converter Multi-Color Corp. purchases contract packager Quick Pak, Inc., on June 3. Quick Pak, also headquartered in Cincinnati, is a provider of promotional packaging, assembling and fulfillment services to major health and beauty companies, consumer product manufacturers and national retailers. Multi-Color will retain all Quick Pak associates, consisting of a workforce of approximately 300 full- and part-time employees, and its production facility in Cincinnati.

DuPont Canada, Mississauga, ON, acquires Liqui-Box Corp., Columbus, OH, in late May. It will be combined with DuPont Canada's wholly-owned subsidiary, Enhance Packaging Technologies. Liqui-Box converts packaging systems for pumpable food products for institutional applications. The two businesses will offer complete turnkey systems for the aseptic and refrigerated liquid packaging of beverages, dairy products or pumpable foods, in retail as well as institutional applications.

Desco Industries, Inc., Chino, CA, a manufacturer of electrostatic-discharge control products, acquires the Protektive Pak division of Brick Container Corp. on May 22. Protecktive Pak, headquartered in La Mirada, CA, converts corrugated, foam and plastic containers for use as ESD-protected storage and transportation items.
