Corrugated prepress supplier Horizon Color becomes an official subsidiary of flexographic prepress provider OEC Graphics, Inc., Oshkosh, Wis. The new name, OEC Graphics, Inc.-Appleton, reflects the direction the company is taking to achieve brand consolidation and cultivate further name recognition within the flexo, litho, corrugated and screen printing industries they service. Horizon Color has operated independently, as a sister company to OEC, since its purchase in 1990.
Narrow-web flexo pressmaker Mark Andy installs a new Model 7000 at its training and demonstration facility in Chesterfield, Mo. The 7000 can best be used for high-value markets including wine and spirits, cosmetic, health and beauty, neutriceutical and pharmaceutical that use popular "no-label-look" applications, the company says. The Model 7000 technology reportedly rivals offset and letterpress with its proprietary plate and impression roll design.
Germany-based Marbach diemaking equipment is now represented in North America by IBH Automation, Inc., a CNC systems house in the Chicago area. IBH will sell and service Marbach's precision engineered diemaking and converting equipment, such as high-speed water jets, lasers, and the innovative "Boardeater," which can cut folding boxes without the need for a dieboard or samplemaker.
