The shaft's bladder can be replaced in only 15 mins, cutting downtime and boosting productivity. Measures to less than 5 microns

A new online gauge uses proprietary near infrared (NIR) technology to measure the thickness of ultra-thin film products down to 5 microns or less. The new TFG710 thickness sensor gives film-extrusion converters fast payback and low lifetime cost of ownership. Designed specifically for cast and biaxially oriented films, the TFG710 provides real-time thickness measurement with a single scan. The patented NIR design overcomes the effects of optical fringe interference, a phenomenon said to occur with other NIR gauges attempting to measure the thickness of thin plastic films. The TFG710 also reportedly renders greater accuracy and resolution than typical beta sensors, producing high-resolution measurement edge to edge, without the inherent statistical noise of beta gauges.

A new digital-inkjet print station integrates directly into a 13-in. Mark Andy 2200 press. The UV-inkjet module is a four-color system capable of printing full coverage, 100-percent variable information at 80 fpm, says co. It reportedly provides 300-dpi resolution with eight levels of grayscale for quality comparable to a 150-lpi flexo screen. The digital station allows for traditional flexo-print stations before and after and allows the printer to lay opaque coatings on clear materials or other finishes.

Increases operator safety

The HPS joint is a self-supported design. Two bearings support the housing, allowing the rotor to rotate easily within the joint body. In the seal assembly, the Convex Antimony Impregnated Carbon Graphite Seal Ring mates against a concave metallic surface. Forces against the seal put the ring into compression, making it four times more resistant to failure than concave rings.
