RadTech Intl. North America is partnering with CMM Events to present a comprehensive look at UV and EB printing at RadTech 2002, set for April 28-May 1 at the Indiana Convention Ctr. in Indianapolis. A full-day conference session on graphic arts April 30 will cover the use of inks and coatings in three sections: Food Packaging, Troubleshooting with UV and EB, and Conversion of presses to UV and EB.
"With the wide use of the technology, our goal was to create a program addressing the hot topics concerning UV and EB curing," says David Biro of Sun Chemical and co-chair of the RadTech Graphic Arts Focus Group. "Food packaging is certainly at the top of the list when we look at areas where better information needs to reach the graphic arts industry, as misconceptions about the use of UV and EB seem to persist," according to Don Duncan of Wikoff Color, and co-chair of committee. Designed to offer practical, useful information from industry experts, the sessions' goal is to give a printing professional a good feel if UV or EB is right for their application.
RadTech 2002—Curing at the Speed of Light—is the largest conference and trade show on the fast growing uses of UV and EB for the rapid, environmentally friendly curing of coatings and inks. The event is sponsored by Bethesda, Md.-based RadTech Intl. and organized by Goyer Mgmt. Intl. Inc., Cincinnati.
Exhibitors on the show floor include suppliers of UV/EB equipment, coatings, inks, adhesives, monomers, oligomers, photoinitiators and others. A special End Product Showcase offers closer looks at many products using UV/EB technology.
Two keynote presentations April 29 spotlight the RadTech opening session. Llewelyn King, founder of King Publishing—publishers Defense Week, Space & Missile Defense Report, New Technology Week and White House Weekly, will focus on how significant advances pave the way for new developments in technology that are dramatically changing our lives. Godwin Berner, head of Business Line Coatings at Ciba Specialty Chemicals, will present a global perspective on the path that has taken us from chemistry to UV/EB solutions.
Registration fees for RadTech Intl. members range from $100 a day for the End User Conference, $350 a day for the Technical and End User Conference, to $650 for the full, four-day event.
