High-speed laser system

The new LaserStream gravure-exposing machine, jointly developed by the co. and CreoScitex, uses 208 high-speed laser beams to prepare a 1-meter cylinder in only 2.5 mins. SquareSpot™ 7-micron dots and lines are produced by positive thermal resist. The fully automatic system is specially engineered to expose cylinders for water-based gravure ink printing. The 152 LT Doctor Machine® has a tension control feature to provide high tension or low tension, with ranges from 1/8 to 11/2 PLI. The Model 613 paper-roll slitter is a fully automated, surface-wind system that can handle webs of reprographic paper up to 75 in. wide at speeds of up to 1,600 fpm. Loading of pre-cut cores, glueless no-tuck starting, slit-roll cut off, ejecting and unloading of finished rolls on dual-speed conveyors are all carried out with no operator intervention. Ends cut-edge welding

The new Film-Master sheeter provides for multiple-roll sheeting of OPP synthetic paper, polyester and PVC film materials without cut-edge welding. A special delivery system allows for press reading and stacking, thus eliminating costly guillotine trimming. Demonstrated at the K'01 show, the unit uses film-based web-handling methods perfected by Valmet as well as a twin synchronous cutting head based on the TSK sheeter line. The Film-Master handles up to 8 rolls of film, trimming, slitting and sheeting to finished product. Stacking quality is said to suitable for direct feeding to printing presses.
