Gravure-cylinder maker

High-speed laser system

The new LaserStream gravure-exposing machine, jointly developed by the co. and CreoScitex, uses 208 high-speed laser beams to prepare a 1-meter cylinder in only 2.5 mins. SquareSpot™ 7-micron dots and lines are produced by positive thermal resist. The fully automatic system is specially engineered to expose cylinders for water-based gravure ink printing. The total online system has a space-saving footprint and can be operated in a brightly lit room.

Reversible rewinder

With taper tension

The 152 LT Doctor Machine® has a tension control feature to provide high tension or low tension, with ranges from 1/8 to 11/2 PLI. This touch screen machine is suitable for a wide range of materials including light films, film laminates, non-wovens and light papers. Two 10 HP motors are utilized in an AC Vector drive system that allows operation to 1500 fpm. Rotary-screen press

Speeds of up to 180 fpm

The Gallus EM 510 machine series is expanded with new 20-in. rotary-screen capability for printing lengths from 12-21 in. With speeds to 180 fpm, the unit gives the press a production capacity equal to two narrow-web presses. Paper-roll slitter

Speeds of up to 1,600 fpm

The Model 613 paper-roll slitter is a fully automated, surface-wind system that can handle webs of reprographic paper up to 75 in. wide at speeds of up to 1,600 fpm. Loading of pre-cut cores, glueless no-tuck starting, slit-roll cut off, ejecting and unloading of finished rolls on dual-speed conveyors are all carried out with no operator intervention. Other features include less than 60-sec cycle times and programmed lower-knife shafts to minimize changeover downtime.

Film sheeter

Ends cut-edge welding

The new Film-Master sheeter provides for multiple-roll sheeting of OPP synthetic paper, polyester and PVC film materials without cut-edge welding. A special delivery system allows for press reading and stacking, thus eliminating costly guillotine trimming. Demonstrated at the K'01 show, the unit uses film-based web-handling methods perfected by Valmet as well as a twin synchronous cutting head based on the TSK sheeter line. The Film-Master handles up to 8 rolls of film, trimming, slitting and sheeting to finished product. Stacking quality is said to suitable for direct feeding to printing presses.

Static neutralizer

With remote activation

The new 8004 control module and 8011 high-voltage power supply are the latest enhancements to the patented Virtual AC™ line of static neutralizers. The 8004 module now allows for remote activation of the system's static neutralizing bars without turning off the monitoring circuitry. The new 8011 high-voltage power supply can be used with standard or computer interface to turn bars on or off via a main operating control panel or remote computer. Virtual AC static neutralizers control static charges on webs running 2,500 fpm or faster.

The TX series digital tension meter measures speed and length measurements in addition to tension on various products. It is used to measure fiber, winding, sheets, webs, tapes, and films.
