Roseville, Minn.-based UV Color Inc. buys Chromium Graphics Inc., Mission Viejo, Calif., on Nov. 26. UV Color is a leader in offset, ultraviolet finishing and printing, used to convert plastics, foils, lenticular materials and other difficult-to-print substrates. Chromium Graphics pioneered and patented a method of introducing texture and dimension into printed images without adding excessive thickness or needing expensive micro-lining. The process is frequently used in producing packaging, point-of-purchase materials and video sleeves.
Menomonee Falls, Wis.-based corona-treater maker Enercon Industries Corp. adds an operations center in Japan, provided by representative Gunze Ltd. Based in Osaka, Gunze will provide sales support, service, technical expertise and spare-parts stocking to local customers. Gunze has hands-on knowledge of surface treating systems, as it manufactures and prints plastic film.
Körber PaperLink GmbH, Hamburg, Germany, restructures its activities in the North American market, including Pemco Inc., manufacturer of packaging machines, and the SHM folio-sheeter program. The Pemco product portfolio will continue being sold and supported worldwide by the existing Körber sales organizations. Körber also will concentrate on the functions of its daughter company Fabio Perini America, Green Bay, Wis., manufacturer of tissue converting products. Wrapmatic, Bologna, Italy, manufacturer of folio-sized packaging machines, will be responsible for the development and design of the packaging portfolio. The products will continue being produced in the United States and Italy.
