Flex-pack press

Rapid sleeve changeover system

The Giebeler Druckmaschinen Advantage R250 and R680 flexible-packaging offset-printing presses offer an alternative to gravure for high-quality graphics. They employ an unusual, low-cost sleeve system for rapid and economical plate and blanket-size changeovers. Printing of 225-dpi screens on films as thin as 12 microns is possible, says co., due to exacting web-tension control and temperature management. For combination printing, interchangeable flexo units can be used in place of offset in any print tower. Widths of 20- and 26-in. are available.

Tension transducers

With 10V proportional output

The co. releases a special option for its standard idler roll tension transducer pairs: an integrated interface/amplifier that outputs a 10VDC signal proportional to tension. Transducers fitted with the special option are powered by 24VDC. With the 10V output option, customers don't need to install an extra transducer interface/amplifier card when purchasing a pair of tension transducers.

Sensor

For larger sensing area

The new SE-37 Ultrasonic sensor is designed for sensing clear and opaque materials. A 1-in. proportional band width allows for a larger sensing area to accommodate guide point shift, and fixed sensor center guiding. The SE-37 is said to be unaffected by optical variations or ambient light, eliminating the need for multiple sensors, which reduces downtime and increases productivity. Ultrasonic sound is used to detect the web edge and will not affect photosensitive paper/film.
