Bemis acquisition leads to 50 job cuts at Alcan

Neenah, WI, site of Alcan Packaging Food Americas to eliminate 50 salaried positions by Jan. 9.

-- Converting Magazine, 11/9/2009 7:03:31 PM

A total of 50 salaried positions will be cut at flexible-packaging printing and converting firm Alcan Packaging Food America's technical center in Neenah, WI, by Jan. 9, reports the Appleton (WI) Post-Crescent.

Alcan, in a letter to the WI Department of Workforce Development Monday, said the layoffs are the result of its acquisition by Neenah-based Bemis Co. Inc., a flexible-packaging maker.

The affected employees are not represented by a union, however, each employee will receive all wages earned and any benefits. Alcan employs about 1,000 people in operations in Neenah and Menasha.
