AIMCAL names winning Matteucci technical papers
CONVERTING-sponsored awards program recognizes best Web Coating-Laminating, Vacuum Web Coating presentations at group's fall technical conference.

AMELIA ISLAND, FL — The 2009 John Matteucci Awards were presented today to the best Web Coating/Laminating and Vacuum Web Coating papers presented at the Assn. of Industrial Metallizers, Coaters & Laminators fall technical conference held in Amelia Island, FL.
Taking the Web Coating/Laminating Award was Gary Samuels of Dunmore Corp. for his presentation, "Production improvements to increase profitability with an emphasis on set-up reduction." The runner-up was Mark Fehlmann of Madico, Inc., for his paper, "RTO upgrade provides cost savings and performance improvements."
Winning the Vacuum Web Coating Award was Peter Sauer of Applied Materials for his presentation, "Advanced TCO layers for flexible electronic applications."
Three runners-up and one honorable mention were also given in this category. They are Alberto Argoitia of JDSU-Flex Products Group for "Biomimicking using alignable microstructured flakes;" William A. Barrow of Lotus Applied Technology for "Roll-to-Roll ALD deposition of Al203 barrier layers on PET;" David Levy of Eastman Kodak Co. for "Spatial atomic layer deposition: High-density films on continuous substrates;" and HM to Wolfgang Decker of VAST Films Ltd. for " Advanced materials deposition on roll-to-roll metallizer."
