Bethesda, MD -- RadTech, the Association for Ultraviolet Light (UV) and Electron Beam (EB) Curing Technology has set Oct 20-21, in Niagara Falls, NY, for the UV and EB curing industry technology conference. The event is aimed at introducing and promoting the technology to industries including metal, plastics, wood finishing, packaging and printing, and electronics applications. Dubbed uv.eb EAST, the event is co-sponsored by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).
Electro-technologies such as ultraviolet light (UV) and electron beam (EB) curing processes can produce significant energy and productivity efficiencies. When used for curing of inks and coatings, it is an instantaneous process that offers substantial productivity enhancements, plus it eliminates the need for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to be used as diluents. Use of this electro technology also reduces natural gas heat requirements by eliminating the need for thermal oxidizers used in VOC destruction. All of these benefits meet NYSERDA's goal of supporting technologies and innovations which provide an economic, environmental and energy benefit to companies within New York State.
Francis J. Murray, Jr., NYSERDA President and CEO, said, "This event will highlight the benefits of using UV and EB curing technology and demonstrate how it can produce economic and energy savings in the manufacturing process, while reducing harmful air emissions, including volatile organic compounds and greenhouse gases." Further, he praised RadTech and its member firms for their efforts in developing and promoting these inherently green technologies that will enable New York state manufacturers to remain competitive and provide "green collar" jobs for the future.
On both days the event will feature close to 40 of the UV and EB industry leaders in a table-top exhibition that will take place during lunches and receptions.
