Search the converting marketplace

By Laura McCluskey -- Converting Magazine, 3/1/2001 12:00:00 AM

Selecterra.com, a new Web site set up for the specialty-converting marketplace, hopes to resolve inefficiencies among suppliers, converters and end-users. Ty Silberhorn, Selecterra's founder, president and CEO says, "Selecterra provides a solution that helps level the playing field by making material and specification information from industry-leading materials suppliers, as well as online transactions, instantly available to registered users."

The home page focuses on the five main service segments of the site, which include screen printing, label printing, membrane switches, foams and gaskets, and tape fabricating. When clicking on each segment, a definition of the process appears with a converter directory and highlights of a few key companies within each segment.

The products tab, found at the top of the home page, lists the category types in which you can locate a product of choice. When looking for tapes, click on the tapes tab and enter product keywords, or choose from the descriptive selections listed to the left of the page. Modify your search by checking the boxes provided next to each category and hit the find it button for quick results.

Once you're a registered member of the site, you can pull up data pages and samples of orders. When it comes time to order materials for a specific job, you can do so right on the site. Simply fill out an order form, store it in the job section and place the order. If you want various materials from several different buyers you can coordinate the delivery time for the same day. Need to repeat a job? Pull up your previously saved order in the job section and order all the same material or adjust it to any reconfigurations made.

When ordering products on the site, please make sure you check the terms and conditions of sale. For terms of payment , all product orders must be paid in full within 30 days of the invoice date of each product shipment. As far as security, the Web site is secured with encryption software.
